Small, cost effective optical encoders now offer enhanced resolution.

Two popular families of optical incremental encoder modules now provide an even wider range of resolution options to match your specific applications.

The HEDS-973X two-channel encoders feature a pair of quadrature channels in a low-cost, high-performance package with a variety of mounting options. The HEDS-9040/ 9041 three-channel modules add a once-per-rev index signal on the third channel.

Both families feature a high degree of insensitivity to both radial and axial play, reducing both your design headaches and the chance of encoder errors. And the new resolution options provide faster motion detection with improved accuracy. HEDS-973X option Axx offers resolution of 500 counts per revolution at 12 mm optical radius for rotary motion sensing. HEDS-973X option Qxx offers resolution of 180 lines per inch for linear motion sensing. The HEDS-9040/ 9041 option T00 offers resolution of 2000 CPR at 23.36 mm optical radius. For printers, plotters and copiers, this means better print quality. For tape drives, industrial automation and office automation, the higher resolution means better and faster control.
